Hello Everyone,

Well looks like I was fortunate to secure funding (in these tight times) and I am going to purchase a '99 Newell 45 foot with bath and a half and two slides.

I have some questions:

1. The R/F high beam square bezel is "milky" and needs to be replaced. This is a square bezel is this something Newell parts would have or do I have to find it outside of newell?

2. The rear tail light assemblies are 6 small squares with brake light, turn signal, backup light and reflectors. The L/R back up light is milky and I would like to replace it. Again is this something Newell parts would have?

3. The acrylic door handle has the previous owners name...where can I order a replacement acrylic door handle and get my name engraved in it? Who manufacturers these?

4. The Girard main awning is white and dirty....where can replacement awnings be acquired from ...Girard directly? Newell?

Thanks,

I am nervous but excited.

I've known the owner for more than 25years. He is a stand-up, straight-shooter. You will be purchasing a well cared for coach. The items you speek of are the easy issues....Awning and pull handles are made by many. Tuga was, is my go-to guy for info on newell issues. Look forward to meeting you in the future. Get on board for the Creede Trip!!

Eric,

First the headlights and backup lights suffer from the same issue. The polycarbonate material hazes when exposed to sunlight. There are many "kits" in any auto parts place that can be used to polish them back to clear. Tom has done it so I'm sure he'll chime in.

Second, Tom and Michael replaced all their tailights with LED's There are super bright. You might want to look into that.

Third, some of us replaced the stock headlights (which are from a 87 FORD F150) with Euro spec models that we sourced from Daniel Stern. That mod is well documented on this site. If you want to replace the headlights with the same Ford ones, let me know, I have four that I removed.

i love the led tail and stop lights. they are pricey but very very bright.

as for the backup light. they are 20 bucks or less and are cheaper to buy than to buy the kit to sand them down. i did one with replaceable bulbs and put led's. i have a relatively new set of clear sealed backup ones i would let go cheap. come to creede and i will bring them.

i personally wouldnd go to newell for any of the things you mention. they are all commonly available items for trucks or rv's. i did replace two of my headlights with the ones richard mentioned and also did new wiring and relays for all 4. there are lots of posts on this forum about them and the tailights we did. can pm you where to get the tail lights.

the awnings can be done your self or at any rv place.

2 of the old headlights i cut off the alignment nubs and sanded them down with a varity of grit sandpaper starting at 100 grit working my way up to 2000 then used a polish to make them shine like new. it is some work but alot cheaper than buying new ones.

ask richard about how to use up a bunch of white rice and toothpaste to clean th einside. it does work and makes the headlights smell wonderful.

Yes, it is my coach. Baron met up with me in Burleston, TX and really like the coach. We struck a deal and we will have a new "poster" and hopefully a new rally attendee. Welcome to the Newell family Eric!

I'm just taking a little break; a financial hiatus!

When the economy gets right I'll be back in the motorhome business! Hopefully with a turning tag axle coach.

It's fun to dream! And it doesn't cost anything!
