Matt,

About 2 years ago, at the urging of my daughter and my wife, I got on FACEBOOK. It was not for me because my primary interest in life is motorhomes & traveling in motorhomes. Very few people on FACEBOOK are interested in MHs.

It is a lot like our forum here with the exception that everyone in the world can participate. It just requires too much back and forth posting. I like newellclassic.com better.

One thing that it does is post what is going on in a person life; good & bad. If you want your life discussed on the www join facebook! It's not for me.

I did it only to see my kids facebook stuff. Not really my thing either.

I have been able to reconnect with many people from my past (high school, college, etc.) that had moved to other parts of the country and had fallen out of contact. Also a way to keep up with what's happening in your kids lives when they're not around. Just depends on what your need is. Didn't think it would be my thing and resisted the "MySpace" rage, and "Facebook" for quite a long time. Now I find it invaluable.

FB is great for staying in touch with people who are not your neighbors. It is a huge social networking tool. I use FB. What I don't like about it is that it is a lazy way to communicate. It is non-intimate communication. People post everything from their relationship status to deaths to up coming events. People share their lives on FB. It eliminates eye contact, verbal inflection and any sort of intimate aspect of communication. There is no need to send a card, pick up the phone or sit across from someone and have a cup of tea, it can all be done on FB. The younger generation is learning how not to communicate effectively because of texting and FB. If you are a musician you can have a musicians page which is very helpful and something the music industry looks at for promotional and booking purposes. It has changed the social and political fabric of this country and the world. Obama used FB in his campaign.

Soapbox melted...down now, Jennifer

Gotta agree with you Jennifer. Just visited with a friend at his office, drank coffee, spent almost 2 hours. Walked out with a smile that'll probably last all day. Can't do that on Facebook.

Forest,
We're newbies and Newell wannabes, have had a great exchange with Tom McCloud and we're in the market for something close to a 40' Newell. We live in Abiquiu, north of Santa Fe, currently in Albuquerque working but would like to stop by Santa Fe Skies and see y'all there if convenient. We sold our Barth last year, often called a baby Newell because of some similarities and now wanting to get back on the road next summer. In no particular hurry and have looked at some on the market as the prices seem fairly good. We've been through the factory in Miami, OK and that's a great experience too. Hope to meet some Newell folks soon.
Gary and Susie Newelless at the moment but have our old toad, '96 Explorer.
