hi,

now that i have all new batteries for engine and house, i wanted to be sure they are all charging properly. i followed the 3 stage charging cycle out of the prosine 3.0 for the house agm batteries and it is fine.

i have the echo charger setup that is supposed to charge the engine batteries from the prosine as well. the green light is on the unit indicating it is working properly.

however, the house batteries at floating at 13.45v and the engine batteries had gone down from 12.7v last nite to 12.5 v this morning. ahhhh...something stinketh.

after work today i will have to trace out the voltage from the echo charger to the engine batteries and see why it isnt charging them.

i put on the merge switch (trickily labeled as "emergency start" on my dash....and the voltage climbed right up to 13.45v like the house batteries so they will get charged that way today.

since it is all in the same little area, it should be easy to troubleshoot.

i called xantrex. they said the echo charger will only "kick on" to charge when the voltage difference between the start and house batteries is 1.5v or more. then it will charge up to 13.5v no matter what the charging voltage is from the inverter/charger (like if it is at 14.5 bulk charge).

could be i dont have a problem. i will check

bye
