Here are the spec's.

that matches the spec sheet that is in my Newell book as well.

so, how do i intrepret this? since the series 60 is rated at 500 hp and 1550 lb-ft at 1200rpm. so i assume that means the specialty rating applies. the torque/hp sheet for my engine says Series 60 Motor Coach.

so does that mean that changing the DDEC to have higher HP and torque pushes the tranny beyond its limits?

I'm not a mechanical engineer but I'm thinking that these ratings are the result of the manufacturers race to advertise 500 hp. If you consider the duty rating required for construction equipment versus a highway application such as a motorhome there is a wide variance in operating conditions ie. start/stop cycles, cooling requirements, time under max load/cycle etc. So a trans that would give acceptable service at 500 hp over the road would not withstand 500 hp in severe conditions.

Coach #1278 is listed on the classified with a 625 Cat & HD4060MH ?
Later 600+HP list the HD4000 trans.
