Do any of you guys have the part number for an alternator belt for a 1996 series 60. It is a banded double belt. I have tired two single belts (gates 17500) and they worked for about 2k miles and need continuous tightening.
I have an old banded belt that was on the coach when I purchased it but it does not have any markings to identify it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey Nando,
Haven't seen you on lately. How was the rest of your holiday time at Lazy Days since we had our nice chat ? My coach is in storage about an hour away from our home ,but I will be going there in about 2 more weeks to check on things and will get you the belt # if you still need it then. I carry 2 spares and they are both new. one was purchased from Newell who I'm sure can help you and the other is a NAPA. Both belts are identical but do have different markings. Let me know if you want me to send the #s when I go up.

Hello Larry,

My holidays were great. Back to the regular routine. I will get back to you if I haven't located the number. Thanks for you help.

Nando,
The series 60 uses at least two different belt configurations that would use different belts. Some series 60s have a belt tensioner. My coach is different. The belt adjusts with a double bolt off the alternator. I've attached a photo of mine. If yours is like mine the belt you need is a Gates GS Powerbelt 2/9500PB or a Detroit Diesel #23520032. Both of these are double belts.

Hope this helps..................

My belt is wider and longer than Steves and has the tensioner he speaks of. I use a breaker bar with a male 15mm socket to get them on and off. Had an alternator issue that was throwing belts, so accumulated a bit of experience with this. do you have the big aircraft size alternator that weighs about 100 pounds or the small one like in Steves pic ?

Veddy interesting.

Steve, I didn't know there was such a critter as the double banded belt. Like others I just tightened mine every other trip.

When you get a chance can you post a closeup of the belt?

Thanks,

Richard,
This is a pretty representative picture of the belt. I can take a photo if a different look is what you are looking for. Amazon has them for $23.37.

Rheavn, my 2000 has a DD60 and has always had two separate belts since I purchased it a few years ago (Gates Green Stripe XL 9495). And, the belts have always squealed on acceleration. Maybe I am using the wrong belts and should switch to the double belt you mention. The DD pulley has a part number of 8929532. When you get a chance, could you check your rig and see if the pulley on your rig has the same part number? If so, then I will give the double belt a try.
