View Full Version : Oil Pressure Sender

The dash gauge has stopped working ( pegged high ) on my '99. Gauge is good and there is infinite resistance on the sender input wire. The good news is that the signal to the DDEC and VMSpc is not affected - so it is a minor issue. Nevertheless I would like to get it working again.
So, has anyone had to look into this in detail on a similar engine?
Thanks,
Russ

I popped the screw head off my sender during the engine work. I actually sourced a new one from NAPA. Sorry but I don't recall the part number.
It's located on the driver side of the block, at the front, at the top of the block.
Good luck reaching it without 8 ft arms.
I had the hatch open when I replaced mine.

if the gauge is a vdo, then it is a standard vdo sender. it is important to match sender brand to gauge as they use different resistance values. my genny had a cyberdyne digital gauge and a vdo sender. it didnt read properly. i replaced the sender with a cyberdyne one and it worked fine immediately.
oil pressure senders are typically about the size of a spool of thread.
of course, dont use any sealant or teflon tape on the threads. statement of the obvious.
