I know we talked about doing this a while back but don't think it really went anywhere.
Let's start a topic, or better if Erica can set up an area by state or region where we can list campgrounds and specific sites that will accommodate 45' Newells.
While I only have a 39' I always see if a 45' would fit on the sites and the access roads.
I'll start it off with our last trip this spring:
TEXAS: Lajitas, TX Maverick Ranch RV Park, easy access roads, wide sites, FHU
NEW MEXICO: Caballo, NM Caballo Lake RV Park, narrow bridge on highway, sites ok, dirt/gravel, FHU
UTAH: Moab, UT Spanish Trail RV Park, easy access, sites ok might be a little short but can park car on side. FHU
ARIZONA: Cottonwood, AZ Dead Horse State Park, access ok, sites ok might be a little short but can park car on side. Water, 50amp, dump station at entrance.

South Charleston Ohio, Tomrrows Stars RV Park. Big rig ok, a row of 80' long pull throughs with full hook ups. no wifi or cable. lots of grass and trees. pool, mini golf. nice place. a membership park so lots of people monitoring what you do. (non members can stay as we are). cheap. 165 bucks for a week.

Oaktown, IN. New Vision RV Park. Small place. pull throughs but had to back out as turns are not big enough for a 45'. full hookups. wifi, no cable. clean.

I have a list of campgrounds where we have stayed over the past 6 years (actually goes back further but that was a smaller coach) that I could add. Also have a few that I certainly would not recommend due to clearance issues.

I use Big Rigs Best Bets and RV Reviews online. If the campsite is not in either of those I usually don't bother with it.

Forest does have a good idea to start a thread or section that would be "first hand experience" of members of this forum, espcially for state parks. I like staying in state parks; they are always much prettier than CGs. Land costs are not an issue - sites can be 100' apart with adverse effect on land cost.

It is a shame that commerical CG owners can not educate their employees to better understand what "Big Rig Friendly" means!

Having hoped that the site would add a "Big Rig Friendly Campgrounds" category, I thought that I'd post some of the most memorable campgrounds that we have recently visited that allow a '45 foot coach to enter & exit without leaving paint or body parts.

We use Big Rigs Best Bets and rvparkreviews.com as well. Then look at the potential site with Google Earth. In addition we rely on recommendations from frineds with similar rigs that have been there. Tree trimming is still a wild card. I carry a trimmer just in case. We will try not to let the little scratch or ding take away from the experience. It's better than sitting home on the couch with the rig in the barn ( although I wish I had one :-) ). Russ

Hi Everyone,

We have created a new forum called Big Rig Friendly so that fellow newell owners can share rv parks and campgrounds that are equipped to accommodate our newells.

Happy Traveling,

Erika

Thank You Erika. This has been a much needed resource that the web site was missing.
