I am looking at getting a pickup to tow so I can haul my golf cart in it.
Chevy Silverado
Ford F150
Dodge Ram
2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive?
Manual or Automatic?

I want to tow it with 4 wheels down

I've heard you can tow a manual with it just in neutral.

I've heard you can tow an automatic if its 4 wheel drive just by putting the trans and transfer case in neutral.

Some of you guys that have already figured it out please let me know.

The Easiest is any 2 WD and stick. Only some 4WD can use the transfer case in Neutral.

Google FMCA. They publish many articles on what can be towed. I tow a 2011 Honda Odyssey merely putting it in neutral. However, since I have the navigation system, I have to disconnect the battery with a shut off switch. Many 2wd cars can be towed, but it depends on the manufacturer.

From my recent research Chevy and Dodge 4x4 WITH neutral position on transfer case can be towed four down by putting TC in neutral. 2WD trucks with auto tranny can't be towed four down. Don't think Ford 4x4 can be towed four down unless it has the manual TC and can be put in neutral.
Check the owners manual (most can be downloaded from the manufacturers website) for "recreational towing". One model of the Chevy 4x4 truck can't be towed four down and that is the AWD only model.
FMCA and Remco are both great resources for year to year info.

The motorhome magazine also puts out a list that would help you out.

What makes for a nice tow vehicle is one that you can tow with its wheels on the ground, and the most important of all in my opinion is one that doesn’t register miles while being towed. The lighter the vehicle is the better, the less wear and tear on your Newell coach and towing system is best.

I have a 4 door Chevrolet 1500 Max 4WD which is perfect for a golf cart and also can be used to haul 4 people around, also the M & G brake system works on the Chevy PU.

I tow a Ford F250 4wd, but i had to order the manual shift lever option as the automatic (on-the-fly) 4wd shift system does not have a neutral detent. I also tow a Honda CRV (company car) that is a breeze to tow
