My refrigerator is having a problem starting up on the electric hookup, and I want to know if I can bypass/disconnect any of the other ways it will run, and just have it go directly to the electric outlet at the plug in. I feel the problem I am having getting it to run is not with the electric, but either at the switch to choose electric. or propane, or in some other connection. Is there a way to just wire it to run on electric only, and just plug it in like a house refrig?

Thank You,

you probably have an automatic refrigerator that will choose the energy source it uses. The controls for such refrigerators operate from 12V-dc power and that must be available for any other source to work. They are usually programed to choose 120V-ac power if it is available and to only operate from propane when 120V is not available. If this is what you have, nothing needs to be done, other than to be sure there is 120V power available.

RV refrigerators are of the absorption type and there is no compressor and they operate in exactly the same way whether using propane of 120V power as an energy source. When on 120V power, all that happens is that an electric heater is used to supply the heat in place of the flame and the controls operate exactly in the same way.
