Hi, new to the group...currently residing in Northern japan. We are looking at purchasing a 1992 Newell with the Silver 8V92 Detroit Diesel...its got 50,000 mile on a rebuilt and it has a 5 speed allison transmission. The floor plan is perfect for our current situation (two teenagers almost at college) but I am worried that our anticipated usage of roughly 8 weeks a year in the US for the next two to 3 years is too little after that I will be able to spend more time in the coach. It just seems that for the price $60K It is a bit pricey for a 20+ yr old coach..Thanks in advance for your insight and welcoming me into the forum.

Hello Bill,

Keep in mind that newells are built from the ground up and will last a life time compared to your cookie cutter motor homes hence part of the reason for such pricing. Check out NewellClassifieds.com (http://www.newellclassifieds.com) for an accurate idea of current pricing.

Welcome,

Sean

:welcome:Bill! So glad you came aboard this mighty vessel. Japan eh? Do you come to the states for a couple month break from working over in Japan? I have been there on several occasions going all the way back to even the USN days. My niece and her husband just returned from living there almost 4 years and they enjoyed it. The wife and I back in the nineties had I believe 7 Japanese students over a number of years stay with us and my daughter makes contact with them over facebook.

Back to the Newell thoughts, a '92 that is super clean with a low mileage engine could be a gem, as long as the rest of it is in good order. It would make for a great stateside rolling condo for a couple of months for sure. We have at least a handful of members around here doing the same thing. In fact my cousin whom is an airline pilot for American Airlines has a Newell he recently bought set up at descent resort he owns in Florida. He stays in it on his return flights from his other home in Bogota, Columbia where his wife and two kids are currently living. In fact we are considering something similar in the near future.

Come on in often and do your due diligence and we will do all we can to help you out.

Ken, thanks for the welcome...We get back for 6 weeks in the summer and a couple around the holidays...I work for the Air Force and am looking forward to traveling the states & Canada with my sons and wife...The boys have never lived in the states so our travels will be very cultural and educational for them....I look forward to learning more from all you experts.
