How many miles is considered alot for a diesel truck engine?

I am looking for a new to us tow vehicle a diesel pickup to be exact and I have a friend that sold his 1 ton Ford pick-up truck because he had 120,000 miles on his diesel engine, How many miles is considered a lot for a diesel pick up truck engine?

120K is just getting broken in good for a diesel like Cummins, not so sure about a GM or Ford diesel.
