I've noticed that a lot of motorists use dashboard cameras because of fraudulent claims. I was thinking it might be a good idea to install one in my Prevost and also my passenger vehicle. They are relatively cheap. I was wondering if anyone is using one in their coach?

Why add to the camera watching society? :sneaky:

The price of the home monitoring systems are going down, and some come with outdoor cameras. I was thinking that might not be a bad idea to have a setup like that so that you could monitor both sides, the rear and the front as you're driving down the road. If there ever was an accident it would be recorded for the police and insurance investigators to view. You could also place cameras inside your coach and monitor your coach from your smart phone when you're away.

I've been wanting something like this to capture scenic wonders. How long a record do you get before it overwrites? X GB = Y hours?

For a while the police didn't like the idea of people having camera's in their cars or on a motorcycle helmet, but the governments seem to be endorsing this idea now. The other new requirement for all new vehicles are the standard black boxes. Some insurance companies are offering discounts for both. Not sure what to think of the whole thing myself?

I've decided to give it a go and purchased the dash cam posted above. I'll update about quality and such once I receive it and put it to use.

The upside to dash cams and black boxes, if you're not at fault in an accident you have all the proof you need, the downside, if you were breaking the law, ie: 3 miles over the speed limit, your insurance company is going to refuse to pay, stating that your insurance policy requires you to obey all traffic laws.

I can see those insurance companies now, weaseling their way out of paying a claim thanks to black boxes. I'm def. not a fan of them and will not purchase any vehicle equipped with one either.

Here is a great example of how a dash cam works. Could you only imagine this happening while driving your luxury coach?

I'm impressed that the guy with the camera was calm enough to stay off his brakes, nice job.
