What is the BEST deodorant to put in the holding tank? Also, HOW can you be sure it's completely clean when you are finished with it and are not going to be using for awhile? I don't plan on full timing so it will sit here and there while not in use and we just want to make sure it's COMPLETELY clean before we put it in the driveway. Any tricks to this?

Hi Robert,

Water, water and more water. Be careful with bleach as it can cause problems when mixed with other cleaners. I like to keep a little clean water in tank after draining and let it slosh around in the tanks while driving. If you travel I-10 west of Baton Rouge it should break any thing in the tank loose LOL. Calgon does seem to slick the inside up which helps keep tank cleaner JMO

I've never tried this, but have been told that once you empty the tank dump a bag of ice in the tank, then drive around for a little bit supposedly the ice sliding around breaks up any solids left behind, then you fill the tank about 1/4 full and dump normally. Personally, I've never found a need to use a deodorant in the tank, just make sure it is properly vented past the roof line. I fill the tank about 1/4 full with water after dumping so the tank never really "dries" up.

Give liquid RID-X a try after every dump.

CDat, I have heard that as well about dropping in a bag of ice. Maybe you can be our guinea pig . When I dumped my tanks, I would re-fill them several times with water and dump until "it" comes out clean. I had a clear fixture on my sewer hose and could see when it is clean. If you do that, you will never have an odor and does not cost you a thing.

I still have to flush my black tank and sanitize the water system so I may just try that. Not sure what the condition the interior of the black is in, might be a good idea, figure it can't hurt. Weather is warming up, will try it in a couple of weeks.
