Woman Critically Burned In RV Fire

A fire in an RV quickly engulfed the vehicle on Highway 370 just outside of Shadow Lake Towne Center in Papillion Friday afternoon.
A couple, along with their dog, were taking the recreational vehicle to be stored when a small fire started in the engine compartment and quickly spread to the cabin.
The woman, identified as 48-year-old Theresa Harazin of Papillion, was driving was trapped for a short time inside. Passing motorists stopped to help, some breaking windows to get her out.
"The two or three bystanders who stopped to help made all the difference in the world in getting the woman out of there," said Papillion Fire Chief Bill Bowes. "The one bystander I spoke to said she was stuck in the window with flames coming out around her before they were able to get her out."

"The next thing you know this RV is on fire and there is black smoke pouring and people screaming get them out, get them out," said witness Reggie White. "It just shakes you up."
The man and the couple's dog escaped with minor injuries. Harazin suffered severe burns and was taken by medical helicopter to the Nebraska Medical Center Trauma Center in critical condition. Chief Bowes said she suffered second and third-degree burns over the majority of her body.
