Front A/C unit shutting down.

My front A/C cools then shuts down or throws the breaker. I think the condenser fan is not functioning properly. I would appreciate it if someone having these same units would post if your breakers are 10 or 20 amp. Also, has anyone removed the condenser fan, and if so, does the top of the unit have to come off?

Chester can you tell us if you are referring to roof air or basement? What system you are running etc. It shouldnt be a 10 amp. I believe all of my breakers on my '02 were 20 amps each on the basement A/C. The basements are a bear to access for an old guy like me. I'm assuming your condenser is freezing up. My new coach has roof mounts and I'm much more happier. No problems at all.

Mike, mine are basement airs and the brand is CSC. Condenser is probably freezing up since the fan is inadequate. Thanks for the post on the 20 amp.

The most prevalent problem with coach A/C units is the filters not being cleaned. It is imperative that filters be kept clean. With unclean filters it reduces the air flow which can create freeze up problems, electrical problems, and efficiency problems just to name a few. One of the major undesirable results of a dirty filter(s) will be a dirty evaporator. An over simplified definition of the evaporator is the set of fins the air moves over to change air from hot to cold. Now with a roof mounted units you will normally only see the evaporator from inside the coach looking up into the unit when the inside ceiling assembly and /or filters are removed. When the filters become excessively dirty the excessive contaminants are pulled through the filters and will begin building up on the evaporator fins. This build up begins acting as insulation which reduces the efficiency of the evaporator. This can also create situations where the compressor can become overheated due to the use of more electrical power than normal.

I hope you get it fixed Chester being you are down in Mexico it's probably warming up. How hot does it get where you live?

Cheri & Ralph, I live on the water so it does not get as hot as Arizona, but the humidity is too high in the rainy season, July - September. Because of planned events, I will leave in a few weeks this year, but normally leave just after July 4th. It is delightful October 15 to June 1, but can get up to 100 in the summer with 80% humidity. No bueno.

Chester I think you mean SCS "Southern Climate Systems" not CSC?

A few have had problems with their SCS basement airs and have gone to roof air. I know a few still like their SCS basement ACs but maybe you should consider having an upgrade done to roof airs?
