I was reading the transmission and heating problems post, and saw some side comments about "cruise control". The cruise control in my 1982 Newell was not working when I purchased it 7 weeks ago, and I am having it checked now. Does the cruise control work off of air pressure in the '82, or is it electronic? I couldn't find any documentation on the cruise control in the two 3 ring binders of info that came with the Newell, and nothing in the prior owner's notes.

The cruise control on my 1986 operates off air pressure.

2Dogs sent me the scanned pages for the Bendix Cruise Control manual. If have converted those to a single pdf file and placed it on one of my sites for download. If you would like a copy, click here (http://www.patrick-irish-wolfhound.com/fulltimersrv/Newell/BendixCruiseControl.pdf) and then save the file to your computer or open it and print it.

Thanks to 2Dogs for making this information available to everyone.

2Dogs sent me a more complete manual for the Bendix Cruise Control (http://www.newellowner.com/Newell/BendixCruiseControl.pdf). It is a 1.7 MB pdf file.

When we bought our '81 40' 6V92 it had the Bendix air operated cruise control. It was not functional, and parts were not available. We replaced it with a 2500 Cruise King, electronic control. I took all the Bendix parts and sent them to Tommy Keys at Newell as spare parts for anyone who wants them.

I ended up putting a Cruise King 2500 electronic cruise control in mine also. It works' wonderfully.
