I have only owned my Classic Newell since March 1st of this year. Virtually every time I have been in an RV Park, or a gas station someone at some point will walk up and start asking questions about my Newell. They say they've never seen anything like it, or they don't make them like that anymore, is that a tour bus, or are amazed at how old it is. Many of the conversations go on for 30 minutes sometimes. It is usually older people.....well, I guess older is a relative term...they're as old as me (in their 50's), or a little older. The gentleman I bought mine from "warned" me that this would happen. Do those of you who own a Classic have this same experience?

we are just finishing a month on the road in our 1990. alot of people have talked to us and we have shown quite a few the interior. people seem to know that it isnt the "regular" rv.

Hey Clarke and Tom:

The time that was most memorable to date, was in a State Park in KS and the gate dude asked me three questions when he saw #303: Are you a Rock Star? No. Are you in a Rock Band? No. Are you somebody famous? No, and I don't even know anyone famous. Most folks that all us meet on the Road are just genuinely nice and want to visit with us. Most think that our classics' are gems and when they find out the name and age they know that they are viewing quality. It is nice to meet folks in such a way and we always try and be as friendly back. Good Karma. We are moving on further west into BC now. We'll spend another 10 days in BC and then on into Anacortes. Hope most of you that have helped us will be able to attend.

David....you're right...I forgot that one.....my neighbors all thought it was a rock star tour bus when I brought it home the first day. Have a great time in BC. Great time of year to be there!

hi David,

we are in southern california now. will not be in anacortes. sounds like fun though. will be staying the the park where michael is for a few days to bug him, georgia and patrick.

2 couples next to us tonite in pismo beach at the rv park were blown away when they came and looked at the inside of our coach. no one can believe these beasts are as old as they are.

Jealous that you guys may have happy hour together this w/e. Sounds like a fun time. Hey Tom, how was driving down Oregon Coast? I plan on doing that from Newport to Crescent City and am wondering if my 42.5' is ok for that and how much time should I allow for this 230 mile trip? I'm thinking you may have just driven your 38' down that stretch?

Everyone have a good w/e.

hi david,

we drove from tillamook to down the rest of oregon. it is a beautiful drive. we spent the nite in tillamook and had a ball, then we drove to port orford and spent the nite. it was about the same distance, about 230 miles. took about 5 plus hours. port orford was wonderful and we spent two days there. small little town, but delightful. stayed at the rv park as you first come into town on the right. ate at crazy norwegians fish and chips and they have the best fish and chips and marionberry pie anywhere.

after we went through the redwoods, we got drove the 101 rather than highway 1 as we had had enough twisty and turney roads.

you will have no problem with your coach at all. very pretty drive and you get to feel like a formula one race car driver.

Thanks, Tom. Cool, we are looking so forward to that. We too, will take 101 once in CA. We will head down to Novato around 9/4 or so. Thank you very much for the OR coast update.

Safe travels.

Clarke, it was great having the opportunity to meet you and Elaine. Few things in life better than three Newell families sharing a meal and comparing their coaches.

Michael, Elaine and I had a great time, too, and look forward to bringing the coach down after Labor Day for a few days. I am so impressed with the great meal Georgia and Darlene whipped up for us, and you, of course did a masterful job of BBQing the T-Bones!
