Water Pump

Anybody want to know where you can get a headhunter Mach V water pump for less than $1000? Anybody know what else can be used that can be purchased reasonably?

I hope I understand your post correctly.

My 95 uses two ShurFlo models, plumbed in parallel. If not mistaken, their very best are less than half the number you are quoting.

i must admit i am a little confused as well. from what i know, the mach V pump is a high end marine water system pump for yachts. not that our coaches are not land yachts, but i dont know of any other of our coaches that have one of these on it.

most of us have shur flo pumps on our coaches. like, michael and richard, i have two of them. one as primary and one a backup. i am in singapore on biz, and would get the model number if i was home but i believe they are at most 100 bucks a piece and likely alot cheaper on ebay.

so, thats what i would put in because that is what we all have already.

now if your coach is quite new one, it could be for some reason you need the more expensive one but i cant think what it would be.

they are easy to put in with flex tubing.

the shur flo is a 12v pump and the searching i did on the mach V showed them to be 110v pumps, but i would have to believe you have a 12v pump as well.

I don't know what year Newell TeamMoyer has but the newer Newell's do use a 120 volt Headhunter water pump as well as an auxiliary 12 volt water pump. The Headhunter is a high capacity water pump that works extremely well when plugged into power or when the generator is running.

There are not many sources for Headhunter pumps. You can get one through Newell or contact OceanLink Inc. terri@oceanlinkinc.com who I know carries Headhunter.

Michael....Thanks so much for the link. I sent them off an email to check. Ours is a 2000. Newell tells me that the original equipment on our coach was a headhunter and that after they quit using the 12V only system that is all they used. HOWEVER, the original equipment in our coach is a 110V Glossman (or something like that) JetpaQ pump which has variable pressure control and was a great pump. It is currently obsolete which is why Newell switched to the Headhunter I am sure. The JetpaQ company makes a replacement pump for $700 but it seems to be a bit large for an easy install and does not have the pressure control feature, requiring a restrictor. I would think the Shurflow backup required one too? We do have a Sureflow pump as a backup. It is a tiny little thing and the JetpaQ and Headhunter are both large variable pressure pumps designed for homes that run on 110. I did find out they still have a few parts, except not any pressure regulators. Ours just quit working, no concept of what broke. If anybody has torn one of these apart and has any input on how to troubleshoot, input would certainly be welcomed!

If it is a Grundfos JetpaQ water pump, there are several sources on the internet for the pumps and potentially for the parts.

There is a manual for the combined pump/accumulator model which is likely the one you have indicated is too large at http://tinyurl.com/qcjps (http://%5BB) that includes a troubleshooting guide.

Have you looked at the model GP JP-5 which has an adjustable 30-50 psi pressure switch and does not have the integral accumulator tank?

It may be that the particular model you have has been discontinued but if you have been pleased with it, it might be worth contacting the manufacturer about repair/parts.

The Headhunter is a good pump and is currently available but sources for either product is limited and prices are high as they are primarily used on yachts.

Thanks for the post. Yes Grundfos, That's it. I already contacted the company. They had all the parts except the pressure regulator. I don't know if that's what's wrong with it or not. I managed to buy a Headhunter MachV on eBay for $56.00 so I'm going to try this. If it doesn't work I will send mine out to see if it can be rebuilt (or I will do that anyway as a backup). Have you ever tried to troubleshoot one of these?

Looking at the cut away photo of the Grundfos, it is a fairly simple design with a significant amount of electronics on the control board. The only parts likely to fail other than the control board would be the pump motor itself, the pressure sensor, or potentially a check valve depending on the model.
