Hi all,

i have a factory installed macerator pump in my coach. for some reason i was really turned off at the prospect of pumping poo through a hose so i didnt really look into it at all. we recently used our coach at the nascar race here in phoenix and the tank didnt get dumped so i had a mostly full waste tank. so since there is no close and easy places to dump around here, i decided it was worth a try to get a 3/4" hose and give it a go. i must admit i was really suprised at how easy and fast it was. man it really pumps the poo fast through that hose. it is easy and fast and i will not hesitate to use it in the future. it is some heavy duty pump they put on there.

now i have to mark the poo hose so that someone doesnt take a drink out of it, eh?

here is a picture of it.

Tom, question from a novice, so where do you dispose of the waste when using the macerator?

howdy,

a very good question. i tried to get my wife to let me take the toilet off in the powder room inside the door by the garage that goes to the driveway where the coach is stored and run the hose through the garage and into the house(and only a short distance in the kitchen) into the toilet hole in the powder room. i figured since we have 5 other toilets in the house that would be ok. i learned quickly she doesnt have the same vision of how convienent that would be for me that i do....so, instead....

i used the cleanouts for the sewer for my house. they are in front of my house such that when i pull the coach forward in the driveway i only need a 50 hose to get to it.

i am glad i finally tried it. if you cant dump when coming back from a trip, it makes it very easy to do so at home.

just remember dont eat the yellow snow and dont drink from the garden hose marked poo.

Hey Tom.....I have a macerator pump, too, but it is only hooked up to my gray water tank. I am really puzzled at why it was done that way, and am thinking about having it replumbed in the future so I, too, can use my sewer cleanout at the front of my home.

Hey Clarke:

I'm under the impression that my 92 Coach only has one waste tank, grey and black. Maybe Michael can chime in on his Coach as well. Still learning about all this stuff, you guys are a great help and resource. Thanks

michael for sure would know the year ranges on the different tank configurations. that said, i believe the series 2000 coaches all have a single black/grey tank. from my perspective, having a single much larger tank than most coaches have is much easier to deal with.

Clarke, I believe I have seen Newells older than yours that only had a single wastewater tank. It is likely that the original owner of your coach requested the dual tank configuration during the construction process. At least by the late 1980's (1987 and likely earlier) the single holding tank was the 'standard' configuration.

I had a 1987 Newell 40' that had the single waste tank. Boy, I loved that coach. The colors inside and outside were blue and grey; and I liked the price.

the 81 38' I just purchased in Dallas also has a macerator and a single waste water tank every RV I've had in the past had a grey and black water tank with dump valves on either tank, I was convinced that I would not use the macerator pump but having read your experiance (positive) I now have the courage to try it out as I also have a sewer cleanout available I will use an off color hose so the potential for missuse is lower. Thanks again for the great info. Graham
