hi all, i am troubleshooting a problem with my vacuum lines for my front heater a/c control panel i just put in.

does anyone know where the electric vacuum pump is at the front?

i have a hand vacuum pump and gauge and the line i have from the control panel to the plenum is good, but doesnt appear to be any incoming vacuum pressure coming into the control panel.

thanks

I replaced mine in my 93 last summer. It was under the front of the coach next to the air suspensions solinoids. The original was coach air to vacuum and was a ford part no longer available according to newell parts. The new one they sent me was also a ford part but it is 12v vacuum pump.

thanks. by any chance do you have the part number for the vacuum pump they sent you? so you used the power to the solenoid to power the 12v pump so it still turned on the same? and just totally disconnected the system that was there? did you still use the reservoir behind the dash or did the pump you got have a small reservoir and sensor to turn the pump on and off on it? i assume the air pump that i have is just the little thing that is on the outlet of the solenoid with the 3 ports on it? is that right?

thanks

Tom,

The vac pump on mine is an original Ford part used to boost the vac on cruise control systems. It has an internal switch that cuts it on and off at about 15 in.

My vac pump is in the left front cavity in front of the tire.

When I thought I had a vac problem, I looked around on Ebay. You will find current ones that fit Volvo's and Saab turbos. Almost any turbo car has one. I would start at my local junk yard. The ebay prices were around a 100 bucks.

However, when you find your vac pump, apply 12V to it directly to make sure there isn't a circuit problem.

Mine also had a round 3 to 4 inch diameter black ball used as a vacuum reservoir that was plumbed into the system. It has some kind of relay on it to release vacuum, but I never figured out exactly what for or what triggered it.

thanks all,

the air powered pump that is on there is clearly not working. it blows air through it all the time discharging the coach supply air. newell told me they are not available and have not been for 7-8 years, hence the replacement with a 12v pump.

they are roughly a hundred bucks from newell or the mfgr.

newell said to reuse the reservoir tank and just mount, plug the hoses in and use the power wire that controlled the air solenoid before.

so, a pump i will be gettin.

hi all,

i got the pump from newell. they were about the same price as anywhere. it is a ford 12v pump to replace the air powered vacuum pump i had that stopped working. i had to plug one vacuum line to install it.

i decided to move it from under the front cap above the leveling solenoids and put it in the front drivers side compartment where the air compressor is.

i drilled a hole in the bay and ran the wires and vacuum hose though it. i lined it with a rubber hose and mounted it on rubber grommets to vibration isolate it.

works fine.

here are the part numbers

SCS#-030-00043 vacuum pump

105.35 from scs fridgette.
