May possibly be a coach owner if all worlks out.
 
I recently joined here this month and trying to read what I can. There is so much information about Newell rvs it si kind of overwhelming a little. I am thinking about taking a 1999 Newell off my father n law if it makes enough sense. The coach has been out in the sun the last 3 yrs and will need tires and probably resealed.''

Any tips to on what I should do with preparing this coach that has been sitting around? Should I just have a shop come out and look it over? It only has 63,000 miles on her.

I would take it to a Detroit Diesel dealer and have the engine checked with their computer. If OK, then I would check for alge in the tank, check the age of the batteries and tires, and if everything else works, then you should have a good coach if the price is reasonable.

Same as above but have Oil Samples pulled for analysis. The Lab work is very reasonable considering what repair costs could be. Typically the Lab work will only show catastrophic problems but well worth the cost for the knowledge. I pull samples at oil changes just to be able to track possible issues.
Why not just get new tires, batteries, service the Gen and Main, then use3 the coach. If the cost of the servicing becomes an issue then sell it right away! you may not be ready for the expense of this lifestyle.

Thank you everyone for your tips and advice. I will most certainly have a major once over done on it. My father n law realizes he has neglected it and just wants it gone. I want to be very fair with him even though it has become an eyesore to him. After reading here on thsis great website I realize it has descent value and after a professional inspection a determination will be made.

He can park that old eyesore in my driveway and forget about it. :thumbup: I'll even come down and pick it up!
