One of these locks was very stiff on our '82. While we were at Doheney State Beach I took it apart and was able to repair it.
The assembly was removed from the bay door and put on the table and then disassembled setting the parts as they came off (you use a camera to help with reassembly). The matting surfaces were galling so they were cleaned off by scraping with a knife and then "polished" with a wire brush.The spring portion was distorted so it was re-formed using the end of a Crescent Wrench as an Anvil and a Ball Peen Hammer to lightly reform it. The parts were then reassembled with a small amount of lube on the mating surfaces.
The Lock works like new now and the others will be scheduled for similar attention.
