I'm not sure how to open it of it's out of air, but one time when I was at Newell, I opened a door of a coach on the front line and it didn't even have air to shut. I pushed it shut and hit the button and it had enough air to air the seal. However I know there is a wag to open them. As far as the compressors go, I've always left mine on until recently I've started to turn them off. I didn't realized that they kept up all the air on the coach: I had no breaks, toilets wouldn't flush, doors wouldn't move, and air seat wouldn't move. As soon as I turned on the pumps though, I was in business.
