Newell Connection?
. . . I would like to start a rumor, and maybe you folks can add to it or dispute it as you wish:
If you take a look at the picture of the
1968 Newell Coach, you may notice
many
similarities between it and the
Fitzjohn Roadrunner. My dad and I suspect that there is
some connection between Newell and Fitzjohn, weather they copied the design, or
someone left from Fitzjohn, and had a hand in Newells design. [b]Note that the front
windshields for the Roadrunner are the same glass made by Pittsburg Plate
Glass for the Newell.
Also, my dad was visiting the Newell plant about 1976 when he spied what
looked like a modified Fitzjohn. It was owned by the president of the company
and they had changed the mirrors and the headlights and grill, but it was still a Fitzjohn
Roadrunner.
