We, too, are looking at installing an RO system. We've had one in our kitchen at our former home for 26 years, and had the filters and membrane replaced every twelve months. We probably processed about 3-5 gallons per day for drinking and making coffee when we had all five kids at home. Probably more like a gallon per day with just the two of us and one kid the last two years.
We have, in the mean time, been using the Zero Water system to filter drinking water in the Newell, and it works great, and the water produced is delicious! We use 4 1.5 liter bottles (kept in the pantry) to store the water until we use it. Every time we drain one bottle we start filtering water to fill it back up and then put it at the back of the rotation.
