We try to always have "merge" on when generator is running or we are plugged into shore power. Just remember to un-merge batteries when you shut off generator. That way you always have good engine battery charge to get the coach motor started. After coach motor is running there should be no problem starting generator if house batteries have run down too far to start it overnight.
