My 73 had a normally aspirated Cat 1160, it got 12mpg w/o toad and 10mpg w/toad. May not have been fast, but it went everywhere I tried to take it, and it would still pass a gas motor home pulling a toad. I would have liked more HP on a few occasions, but I have the same issue with my car and truck...
