To clarify. You use ATF to prefill the New Fuel Filter. The reason that you have for this is that the ATF will help clean the injectors rather than using unfiltered Diesel Fuel.

This would not replace treating the fuel in the tank, just a different way to prefill the new (and empty) fuel filters. It would be much easier to carry ATF than Diesel for this prupose.
