My 78 has the cable shifter and my 93 has the electronic. IMHO there is no advantage to the more complicated electric/air shifter. The cable has worked flawlessly for the 11 years I have owned it. The electric/air has a plastic toggle switch to switch gears....break the switch and your stuck!!! the air pressure regulator must be functioning properly as well...It has worked OK except that I have to hold the switch for 20 seconds or so at times. It works smoothly going D-N-R but is slow going R-N-D. Maybe the push-button style is better/more durable.
That said, if anybody could hook one up and make it work- YOU COULD!
