I don't know if it is a 'understood problem' but a friend bought a pair of 365's and 6 of the smaller size for the rear. The rears had dates that were a few months old but the 365's were over a year old (about 18 months as I recall). He called Michelin and was told that if he didn't want to accept them, they would ship another pair to the dealer but they took whatever was on the shelf and they might be as old as the those. Apparently they make a manufacturing run and then wait until they are almost out to make another group so it is the luck of the draw. If they just made some, you get fresh tires, otherwise they may be a year old or more.
