Hi Tom,
The more expensive bulb works good...but it should for $22! I feel like this is a personal preference... My two neighbors who have Newells and one changed to l.e.d and the other kept his old bulbs. In my opinion the incandescent bulbs are more practical. They give out more light and are useful. The l.e.d however is bright and gives a cool glow, but not as much useful light. If you do decide to order new bulbs, be careful as I order some off ebay that came from hong kong that were said to be the same part # but the terminals were different and I blew out several fuses in my coach. However, superbrightleds.com sells the correct bulbs: the part number is 1142, and make sure it is a dual contact bulb.
