the Jake brake should only be forced to disengage when the engine goes into first and the converter goes out of lockup. Maybe yours is working properly but I would want the old setup where ifc I were picking my way down in 1 st or 2nd I could use the jake. There is a mod to the 740 that allows you to force the trans to stay locked up below 20mph and that lets you use the jake picking your way down switch backs on 9 degree stuff you should never have tried......Except with a jake that works at 10mph.

Can you switch your jake on for 2 or 4 or 6 or 8 cylinder operation? Food for thought?
