Leeann, the only way you can get by longer is to stay out of the dry climates or desert area, carry a spare and change them when they quit performing properly. Of course hope your not in a rain storm when you discover they don't work properly. I have had wipers last 6 months to two years. As much as folks like Vegas, you may be changing them more often. And we know there is really nothing cheap about stopping in Vegas.
