chester, that is exactly the noise i had. on top of the slides on the outer edge is the hole that the locking pin goes in. it is a metal insert. the rubber bushing goes inside that metal hole. then the pin when it inserts goes inside that bushing giving it some cushion.

here is a picture of the hole.

the washer like thing is the rare earth magnet that the hwh sensor requires to put the pins down. you may or may not have that as some use microswitches elsewhere.
