I'm guessing your talking about the Bridgeport on 395. About 3 years ago, I was going from Jackson, Ca to Topaz Lake about this time of year. The one thing I was told, was NOT to go over Monitor pass. I took 88 to Minden & then 395 South. I wasn't towing, but there was snow & slow going some of the way.
I been on 50 west out of Carson City many times & it's hilly but great roads, but you will have to go way north to get on 50.
If it were me, I'd take 88 to 12 to 80 in Fairfield. 2 lane roads, but pretty.

I would not take that rig on 89 north of South Lake Tahoe. I would take Rt. 50 towards Sacramento. It has some climbs and tight turns, but nothing like Rt. 89. This time of year you may have mandatory chain restrictions on either route.

89 north from 395 is very steep and windy, not a good road for an RV. Depending on the time of year it may be closed from snow anyway. I suggest all the way north to 50 and follow 50 to I-80 in Sacramento. The easiest drive would be 395 to Reno and I-80 over the mountains. This time of year you will hit snow and possibly chain requirements or closed roads.
