Default way to release air from tag axle

Can someone tell me if there is a safe way to release the air from the tag axle ? The switch doesn't seem to be working. The gauge still shows 55 or so PSI. I have tried to remove and clean the leads on the switch. But still holding air. Thanks for any help.

Thank You in adavance,

Will Procter
