Default Leobess

Hi, I guess i'm the new kid on the block, being that I bought a 1984 Newell last winter. When I picked up the bus in Fla. I should of asked a lot of questions about the bus, but I did'nt. Like a fool I just jump in and tried to drive it 1200 miles to my home. I never asked the owner how longe the bus was setting ( 1 1/2 to 2 years). But I got the unit home, how, only God knows. One of the bigest problems was the air bag on the right rear.I could'nt get any air into the bag. But thats another long story. I'm glad to be Newell owner and am looking forward to getting a lot of use out it, that is if the price of fuel ever gets down below four dollars a gallon.

hi leobess,

welcome to the group. you will find tons of help and support here. i bought my 90 last summer as well. i bought it in new mexico and drove it home to mesa, az, then the next day loaded it up and went on a 4k mile two week trip. that is where i found out what worked and didnt work. fortunately, nothing major. i have been updating mine since then and am just finishing a major complete interior updating this week. then next weeik i am heading off for a 5 week trip going out touring the west coat from BC to California. i couldnt have figured out everything without the help of many great newell owners on the forum that have also become my friends.

welcome again,

tom

Welcome Leobess.

Fire away with any questions you might have. There are a number of owners of 80's model Newells that frequent the site. Several of us with 90's models can try to help out and hope that the systems didn't change too much between the various models.

Have you gotten your air bag issue resolved? If not, make a post in the Chassis and Suspension forum and we will try to get you on the right track (likely the solenoid that lets air into that air bag).

Welcome Leobess.....I've been on this forum since March, when we bought our 1982 Newell. Fortunately when I picked mine up in Palm Desert, CA I only had 70 miles to drive home. Over the next few weeks I found out what was working, and not while parked in front of my home. The only thing I hadn't taken time to delve into was the age, and condition of the 6 tires. Well, on the way back from Arizona I found out via my left front tire exploding, that the tires were 7 years old. That issue has now been rectified...now all the tires are new.

At any rate, welcome...ask lots of questions, and you will get plenty of good answers!
