generator fuel consumption calculator
i ran across this and though it is simple and generalized, i think it pretty accurately reflects my usage.

I'm not sure, it shows my 12.5KW at 1.05gallon/hr.
I find my usage is less, around .6-.7 gal/hr.
Also my Ford 1720 tractor (24hp Yanmar 3 cylinder diesel) with a 15KW (actually only putting out about 13KW) burns about .7gal/hr. This was after 2 weeks almost continuous running after a hurricane.
Anybody else?

hi forest. i believe it is set to calculate the actual amount of kw USED and how much fuel they draw. so for me, if i am running with all 3 air conditioners and assume that is about 33amps or 4kw, plus about 1kw for the blower motor and assume another 1kw in misc for a total of 6kw LOAD, for a usage rate of .5 gal per hour. so it may be off a little but in the ballpark.
generators burn more fuel when under heavier and heavier load.

Ok, that makes sense now. I wasn't considering being fully loaded. With 3 A/C's + other things I'm still nowhere near 12KW.
But I'm comfortable! And I don't care how much fuel it takes to keep me cool!

My propane generator puts out a max of 7.5 kw. Running both A/C's it uses around .4 to .5 gallons per hour. Pretty efficient, but I'm like Forest...I don't care how much it uses as long as I am cool. The only time gallons per hour has become an issue was over the 4th of July when the park power went out for 13 hours. I hadn't filled up with propane since January 31st and was down under 10 gallons, and wasn't even sure if I had that much left, so I went outside and sat in a wading pool all afternoon....

12.5 KW KOHLER. I run both Roof Air Conditioners when it is hot (hot to me is over 70!). My little V6 get almost 10 Miles per Gallon but 9.5 when I run the Genny and the Air Conditioners.
I figure if that bothers you then your Bus should be a KIA .
Clarke, change your location! try ANYWHERE USA. much better that Ontario, CA
