Default Parting out 1972 Newell

  yes folks, You heard about it ....... now here it is at last. Found lurking in the redwoods, this old coach is full of mold and has a rotting floor. The top front of the coach has experienced a miss hap in the past and is pushed toward the passenger side about 3". The windshields are intact but out of their frames. The skin is in overall good condition with a few scrapes but almost all of the gold trim is in good shape. Will ad some pictures soon. Engine and transmission have been sold as well as the emblems (thanks Jimmy). Lots of good stuff, email with your needs. Greg

Default Pictures Please

Could you post some pictures of the front windshields for me please. Do they look like the same type for a 90s era Newell?

In the 70's the coaches were 96" wide. In 1986 Newell started building the coaches 102" wide. For a few years, they used the same windshield as the prior models but spliced in a 6" wide glass strip in the center. They were using Chevy Astro 95 truck windshields at that time and the 6" center section was an 'inside cut' from a complete left or right windshield. The 90's era windshields are full 53" width each.

Do you know what vehicle the 90's windshields are from? It'd be good to know if I need to replace one. I do have a crack on the passenger side that I'll have to get replaced sometime in the future.

Newell has windshields to fit even the oldest coaches in stock. They will ship direct to you oe your installer. Old coaches like my 71 must have glass cut to fit the opening. You need a good glass installer to do this. First installer I used broke one glass and did a bad job on the other. It was back to Miami for 2 more windshields. Binsinger Glass was able to recut the poor fit and make it work. Now have good glass and a replacment under the house for future use. If you provide your own glass and it breaks it's on you. All and all new glass cost me about $2,000.

How about the windshield "gasket"? No one (including Newell) seems to be able to come up with one for a '78.
And, are any pictures coming?

RV Glass Solutions @ 888-777-6778 replaced both windshields in the 74' They had the seal also. You will find that some skin trimming may be necessary. Good Luck!
