Cool Steering Wheel replacement

Can I replace the steering wheel with an aftermarket unit from a truck or car? I've seen some 18" models that would work quite well, but I can't find my shaft size anywhere. Thanks.

Joe, I've done it on two different coaches that have the Ross steering. It was pretty simple. The old wheels came off without even using a puller. I used a good Snap On mallet and tapped around the bottom as another person pulled up on two side. Just don't smack the other persons fingers. lol Then I installed a surplus Freightliner wheel in its place. What a difference in feel it made.

check your steering wheel. the wheel on our 82 uses a hub very similar to a grant style adapter.
