Default Generator radiator fixed

While in Creede I noticed some coolant around the filler neck of the generator radiator. It was about a quart low, but had never overheated. Filled it and when we got home it was low again. Bought a pressure tester on ebay and it wouldn't hold any pressure and could see it leaking around the neck. So last week I got around to pulling it out and having it repaired and cleaned (easy to pull, 2 hoses, 4 bolts) cost about $90. It's running right now with 2 a/c's and showing about 175F where it used to run about 180F, so that's a good thing. I also added an overflow bottle. Thinking of adding one to the 8v92 also.
I would have it done sooner but wanted to get farther through hurricane season in case we needed it.

I think one of the best things you can do to have trouble-free miles in your Newell is to observe it: Start the engine, open the body panels & LOOK. Keep the engine clean so you can spot leaks early on. Park on a clean, dry surface and watch for liquids under your coach.

It's easy to run the nose-mounted gen-set out while running to observe it. But DON'T do what I did this summer during a heat wave. The gen-set was running hot & I ran it out to observe it. That stopped all cooling air through the radiator. Not good. It hit 237 on the interior gauge but it didn't shut down and it's been fine since. Close one.
