Default Algae in fresh water hose?

Went to hook up water hose, and got what seemed like green water. I am assuming that the warm southern sun caused algae? Can the hose be "sanitized" or is it time for a new one? We plan on doing the bleach thing to sanitize the fresh tank and lines tomorrow. Can we put a bleach/water solution in the hose - let it set for a bit?

Will

I'd suggest a new hose, cheap enough and good insurance.

Steve is right. That's what I would do.

Some of the green stuff can survive bleach, Vinyl hoses are sometime formulated with chemicals to fight algae and bacterias.

Some of the higher priced ones have silver incorporated into the inner hose. Won't hurt to try bleach but I would replace it if it is my drinking, shower, and wash water.

I'd consider a new hose; not that expensive. Give the freshwater tank a good bleach treatment. Flush with vinegar.

Algae can't grow without sunlight. Maybe some green water was left in the hose. At any rate, I'd do the same, just buy a new hose.
