Default Xantrex 458 Inverter Charger installed

Had an inverter installed in our motor coach. My question is when we are on shore power do we need to have it on to keep the batteries charged?

I have a Xantrex 458 series Inverter/charger 2000watt

That would depend on what type of inverter you have. Some inverters called 'inverter chargers' have the battery charger built-in Others do not. If not you'll likely have a charger built into your coach that will be passively charging in the background.

Gringo,

you can download an owners manual for the 458 below:

http://www.newellclassic.com/forum/manuals-datasheets/3054-xantrex-458-freedom-series-inverter-charger-owners-manual.html

I just looked at it and the 458 is an inverter with a built in 3 stage charger so I believe the inverter does not have to be on for the charger to operate.

If I'm incorrect please correct me,

Joseph
