Question How to dispose documents/papers with personal information?

Disposing of documents/papers with personal information while traveling?

I was thinking this might be a good thing to order and have in the coach?

Given the identity theft problems today, I would make sure that the paper shredder I was utilizing was a good quality cross-cut shredder. I would either get a good one, or periodically drop my documents off at a professional shredder company. The cost of identity theft is just to great to take a chance.

If you have not seen Argo yet, it confirms John's (cdat) reply.

Something to think about, when the embassy in Iran fell, the State Department had been using shredder that cut everything into long zig-zag strips, the Iranian Intelligence service was able to reassemble over 90% of the documents. Granted, the chances of someone going to that extreme is probably very rare, but identity thieves have gotten very sophisticated and there is good money in identity theft. I may be considered paranoid, but ALL of my mail and ALL of my documents are shredded with a cross-cut type shredder. Remember, once you put your trash on the curb, legally in most states, it's not theft to take things out of your trash cans.

With a campfire you could always burn them.

Here is a little desktop cross cut shredder that would fit well in the Newell.

Do as I did. At a RV park that has fire rings, burn your receipts and paperwork to start a fire. No cost at all
