Newell Coach 50 Amp Plugin At The House
My son is a certified electrician. He said he could setup a 50 amp plugin for our newell here at the house. As we have room on our breaker box for one is there anything special or different to setting up a 50 amp plugin for the MH than if you were setting one up for say, just for use in the house? I.E. is the plug type the same, wiring etc..? This is me asking, Jonesy.

A certified electrician is certainly better that what I used (me), and I have had no problems. Depending on where you want to locate your receptacle, you may want to get a rainproof unit like the RV parks use.

The wiring would be identical to any other 50 amp circuit. The outlet he will install will be different than the standard 50 amp plug installed in residences. Make sure he looks at the 50 amp plug on your motor home and have him install an outlet that will accept that plug.

Make sure he installs a NEMA 14-50R outlet and wires per the spec for that outlet. It is NOT the same as a 50A dryer outlet, nor the same as a 50A welder outlet. No offense to your son, but residential electricians too often assume they know what is needed and do the wrong thing for an RV. I have seen far too many reports of RV outlets improperly wired by supposedly qualified electricians, resulting in damage to the motor coach.
Here is another site that has excellent instructions and pictures of an RV 50A outlet installation.
