Default Oil gauge pegged

It turned out to be a simple fix, but I thought I would post anyway to hopefully save one of you some time in the future.

My generator oil gauge would peg when the gennie was first started. As the generator engine warmed up the needle would swing erratically and finally settle out around 80 psi.

Michael helped me diagnose by giving an ohm reading with the engine static. His ohm reading with the engine stopped was around 20 ohms or so.

Mine was 190 ohms.

The guage sensor is a 10 to 180 ohm sensor with the resistance increasing as the pressure increases.

The cheapest reliable place I found for VDO parts was Summit Racing. It was 24 bucks and I had it in two days. It took, oh, about five minutes to change it out.

Bingo, the gauge settled on about 70 psi and stayed there.
