Default Lower bay 12 volt door lock motors and actuators

I am the new owner of 1998 Newell 493 and am doing some repair and upgrades. I need to replace several of the lower bay 12 volt door lock motors. They are Ford door lock motor part # F03B-5426594-AA. The problem is that the local Ford dealer wants in excess of $200 each for them. Does anyone know of a less expensive subsitute? I'm capable of making modifications to something similiar.
Thanks, Tom

Welcome Tom to the Newell Forum.

What you need is the cross-over number. Ford can cross that number and give you another number which can be cross-referenced to find other possible aftermarket brands. More than likely the product it outsourced by ford and can be bought for a quarter the price via an aftermarket outlet.

I'll do some searching and hopefully someone else who may have already done this sourcing will chime in with additional information. My thoughts are that it is something off of a larger Ford vehicle or truck just like the door latches having been used on Towncars and Mustangs.

Hi Tom,

I found some for about $52 on eBay. It is called a Ford truck door latch assembly.

statement of the obvious, but when buying on ebay and it says, make offer, always make an offer rather than use the buy it now. i always get things cheaper that way

Mr. & Mrs. Gaidry:

Have you installed the motors from Ebay? The picture looks basically like mine but the electrical connections and mounting look different. As I said, I am capable of making modifications. Thanks

I have order 4 Power Door Lock Actuators Includes different length rods to see if they will work on my bay lock. They were sold in pairs for $35.35 total being less than 18 each with free shipping. I should receive in next 4-5 days and will let you know if they work. 1988 - 1994 Mercury Topaz Power Door Lock Actuator Set purchased from AM-Autoparts http://www.am-autoparts.com/AM/Door-...ce=ShopzillaSF

I found the answer to my question. 1AAuto (1aauto.com) in Pepperell, MA sells their part # 1a-DLA-00011, door actuator, for $39.30 per pair with free shipping. I received them today and they are identical, although made in China, to the originals which Ford wanted $200.00 each for.

Tom,

I have installed the set that you see on eBay. They come with different lengths of actuator arms. Mine worked great. My Newell is a 1999, it should work on your 1998. I bought mine about 3 years ago.

Maybe you could contact the owner on eBay and get some measurements.

Good Luck!
