Default Electric Step locked up

I am the new owner ( and member) of a Newell Coach. I drove it home from TX to FL and before I got home the step has ceased to operate and is locked in the retracted position. I've checked switches, looked for fuses. Any idea where I should start looking?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Thank You in advance

If you're sure you didn't inadvertantly turn it off somehow, then I would crawl under with a volt meter. Determine if you are getting voltage to the motor when the step should actuate. If you are getting voltage, then you have a motor or mechanical problem at the step. If you are not getting voltage, then you have a switch or power issue. This first check will at least divide your search in half.

Welcome to the gang.

Tell us what you thought after the intitial drive. We always like to hear folks thoughts behind buying older Newells.

on our coach we had a similar problem. the light switch, as you are looking at the door from the inside on the left about six inches from the floor went bad that locks it in the up/down position hope it helps
