Default Replace or Not Replace Awning Fabric

I was told that prolonged exposure from the sun is what has caused the stitching on our awnings to deteriorate so what kind of thread is best to use to restitch the edges...?? and is it worth while to repair or should I just replace our awning?

Hey Boss: The window awnings on my 77 had some threads letting go so this past summer (can't believe it's actually passed) I took one off to have it resewn by a local awning company. The cost was about $65 which is about half the cost of new ones (only the fabric part) from Zip-Dee. If the fabric is old as mine was, but still fine, I'm thinking if more need sewing I'll just go with all new fabric. That the fabric has lasted 35 years and counting I'm amazed they are still even in one piece.

I would go with all new fabric if you have more than one place that the thread is coming loose and if it's happening to more than one of your awnings.
