Default Tag axel vs non tag axel newell motor coach

As I look at the various years and lengths, the question comes to mind what, is the distinct benefits of a tag axle newell over non tag. Better weight distribution? Better ride? Good reason to buy more tires? I really like to looks of the tag axle newell but is there enough benefit to the added axel to warrant going to a tag axel coach? I'm interested in your opinions.

As far as I am concerned, it is merely a question of weight and breaking capacity. Newell would not add them it they were optional.

The Tag Axle allows a heavier vehicle. The maximum weight allotted on the Interstate highways is: 20,000 lbs for a single axle 34,000 lbs for a tandem axle and a maximum gross vehicle weight of 80,000 lbs.

Other benefits of a tag axle are better tracking, less sway in wind, and typically a better ride.

Also keep in mind a rough estimate for all Newell's is 1400 lb a ft for length
those larger longer Newell's are heaver so the needed tag and bigger hp engines needed to have the hp to weight the same.
